CHICKEN STUFF

Crazed slide guitar blooze action, Hop Wilson decides to say ‘Chicken Stuff’ every so often, everybody’s happy. One of Andre Williams’ finest, not no be confused with Andy Williams. Kirk McGee & Blythe Poteet, thoze gud ol boyz shore kan spel. Pretty jazzy little ditty from always interesting Ivor Cutler (they’ve all gone digging into chicken). Blast Off, funny shit from The Five Du-Tones, ‘I don’t wanna go to the moon’, hence The Chicken Astronaut, I think Andre Williams wrote this. Phil Harris (Balloo the Bear, right) did the best version of this classic that I’ve heard. I’m guessing that this is the most well known Dr. Alimantado track, have not got a scooby doo what he’s going on about. I really like The Cherubs, mid-ninetees noise from Texas, sort of like a looser Helmet (Ummm). Great squarking funk from The Meters, I think we can guess the dance steps to this. One of the The Singing Cowboys’, Gene Autry reet nice songs (if yr into yodeling and animal noises that is). Link Wray makes his guitar sound like a clucking chicken, then slashes yr face with his switchblade because you looked at him funny. Throwaway ‘b’ side from The Cows, yes that chicken is telling you to f-f-f-f-f-f-fuck off. The usual insanity one should expect from Yma Sumac, but where’s the chicken sounds? Finally some splendid lazy sounding drunken jazz from Charles Mingus, RAZAMATOOTIE.
